Welcome!

My name is Fred Edora, and I am a Filipino, born and raised in Ohio. I am currently in a position with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, and I play a direct role in making sure many different audiences (jobseekers, employers, training providers, and state workforce staff) utilize web technology to fully implement an online state labor exchange system.  In order to do this, there are many facets to my position which include providing proper training on the use of our system, monitoring the submission of federal reports, and being in regular discussions with program staff to make sure relevant case management functions are included within our system.

I am pursuing a doctorate so I can better understand the theories behind both instructional technology and program evaluation and their applications in workforce development to discover how our current labor exchange system can be improved.  I also have the desire to strengthen my skills in data and statistical analysis.  As a case manager and reporting coordinator for the TAA program earlier in my career, I discovered that workers in previous generations struggle with learning the new skills needed to succeed in today’s technologically advanced workforce.  Thus, I have been deeply interested in research that will help bring our public workforce system to match 21st century technology initiatives, including discovering better ways to help adult learners deal with and transition to a technologically advanced workforce environment and culture.
